Collections of Creative Workshops - 2009
Star Explosion Kiddie Art Club...
From ages 5 and up to school leaving age...the students are grouped according to their age and skills. English is spoken during the classes as well as Dutch and the classes are kept small, so there is plenty of individual attention for the progression of each child's skills.
We focus on creative drawing, sketching and painting. We use a number of techniques: easels, water colours, gouache, crayons, oil pastels, wax crayons and soft pastels.
Children will be encouraged to use their imagination and their own ideas. We will provide materials and various techniques to bring out the young budding artist. There will be themed sessions allowing the children to take an active part in what they really want!
We also experiment with stencils and stamps and work with paper collage, creating multi-coloured designs. Depending on the age of the children we offer different programs to suit their needs and interests. The lessons are a combination of fantasy and imagination, as well as learning to observe and draw accurately and in detail.
We also prepare for various Exhibits of all our student's works
and projects every 3 months or during festivals/celebrations: Valentine,
Christmas, Halloween, Easter an in
Autumn.
We also look at the work of Famous Artists, and discuss concepts such as: abstract art, perspective, realism, surrealism and students follow up this information with a hands-on project of their own. Children are encouraged to draw using the "right side of their brain" , thereby developing a strong coordination between the eye and the hand.
We look at the importance of light and shade and how to create depth in a drawing or painting and finally, we discuss the primary and secondary colours and how to mix them and make new colours.
Extra information: The course runs for 10 consecutive weeks, and children can start at any time during the year. We will stop for any school breaks and holidays. Any missed classes can be made up on a different day as long as it is within the 10 week period.
